Preparing Turmeric Milk
Take a glass of milk (regular milk or any plant based milk), add 3/4th teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of black pepper powder and mix everything well in a pan and bring it to boil. Simmer on low flame for a minute and pour it in a cup. You can strain the liquid with a strainer if you like. To keep the process quick, you can simply add turmeric and black pepper in a cup of hot milk.
Best Time to Consume Turmeric Milk
The best time to consume turmeric milk is just before bedtime. This will calm your body and help you sleep better. But if for some reason you avoid any liquids at night, you can choose another time to take this beverage, just make sure if you limit intake of meals or any other liquids at least 30 minutes before or after consuming this so that your body has some time to absorb the nutrients. Remember to always add a dash of pepper in turmeric milk as black pepper helps the body absorb turmeric. Black pepper contains the bioactive compound piperine which boosts the absorption of curcumin in the body. You can also add spices like cardamom, nutmeg, saffron, or cinnamon to your turmeric milk, but don’t forget to add black pepper.
