Dandruff is a very common hair problem and needs immediate attention. It appears as dry, fine flaky skin on your scalp or other areas of your body. If you have dandruff, you may also notice white flakes on your shoulders, especially when you wear dark clothing. Itchy scalp due to dandruff can be annoying and embarrassing too, and the more you scratch your scalp, the more the problem increases. Though many anti-dandruff shampoos available in the market promise to get rid of the problem permanently, however the chemicals present in these shampoos are harmful for the hair and ruin scalp health as well. It is much better to completely avoid any chemical-laden hair products for treating dandruff and go natural in your hair care regime.

  1. Hair care with Coconut Oil

Use natural coconut oil to moisturize your scalp. Coconut oil helps keep your scalp moist and prevents the development of dandruff. Warm up 2-3 teaspoons of coconut oil in a bowl. Make sure it is not boiling hot. Then, apply it to your entire scalp, and massaging it well for at least 3-4 minutes. Leave the oil overnight so that the scalp absorbs it completely. Rinse your hair with a regular shampoo the next morning.

Curd and Lemon juice is regarded as the most efficient way to get rid of dandruff at home. Take one bowl of curd and add juice of half lemon to it. You can also one egg to this mixture. Mix it will and apply it evenly throughout your scalp and hair. Let it sit for 30-60 minutes. Curd is a perfect tonic for improving the quality of hair. Being rich in vitamin B5 and proteins, curd helps moisturize hair and get rid of dandruff as it contains antibacterial agents, which also helps to give relief from irritation and itchiness of the scalp. Lemon’s acidity helps balance the pH of your scalp, which helps to get rid dandruff.

  1. Hair Care with Aloe Vera Gel

 

Aloe Vera is a wonderful plant and is most easily available right in your kitchen garden. To prepare aloe vera gel, pluck an aloe vera leaf, slice it open and extract the gel from it. You can either blend it in a mixer or directly apply it to your scalp and hair. Leave it overnight or for at least 30 minutes before washing your hair. It is a very effective homemade remedy to get rid of dandruff and itchy oily scalp. It will calm down an irritated scalp and provide relief from inflammation. This will also make your hair soft and shiny while keeping it nourished.

  1. Hair Care with Neem

Neem has been known from ancient times for its antibacterial and antifungal qualities. Take a handful of neem leaves and make a thick paste by blending it in the mixer. Apply this paste all over your scalp and hair and let it remain for 30 minutes before you shampoo your hair. Alternatively, you can boil some neem leaves in water. Once the water cools down, use this neem water to rinse your hair after shampoo. You need wash the neem water from your hair. Let it get absorbed in your hair.

  1. Hair Care with Garlic

Garlic has antimicrobial properties and is perfect ingredient to get rid of dandruff causing bacteria. Take a garlic, crush its cloves, and mix it with honey until you get a smooth paste. Massage this paste into your scalp and leave it on for about 30 minutes, before you wash it off with a mild shampoo. The honey in this paste will help eliminate the foul smell of garlic.

These homemade remedies to get rid of dandruff naturally at home are very effective. You can mix all these ingredients together, for best results. In addition to following these hair care tips, make sure to keep your hair and scalp clean from pollutants, build up, sweat and excess oil. Wash your hair properly with a mild shampoo at least twice a week. Eat a healthy diet, including a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, and drink lots of water.
